Witty Print the Kits

WITTY

Three definitions a turn. Match one to a term on the board and the square is yours. Four in a row wins — across, down, or diagonal. The card you hold decides which squares you can even reach.

PICK A PERIOD

OPPONENT

There is a printable version too — 15 two-player kits per period, and a second game called Fox played on the same board, where you hide shapes and name terms to find your opponent's. Find them on the APUSH page.

How to play Witty

THE DRAW

You get three definitions a turn. Click one, then click the term on the board that it defines. That square is yours.

Miss, and that card is gone for the turn. Your other cards stay live.

When a square is claimed, its card leaves the deck. Every card left in the deck matches a square still open.

WINNING

Four squares in a row — across, down, or diagonal. The FREE square in the middle counts toward both players' lines.

Board full with no line: draw.

THE CATCH

You cannot take the square you want. You can only take a square you can name. Blocking is a matter of holding the right card.
